Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs)

Welcome to this week’s blog post part 2 of 3. This week we’ll be taking a look at Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs). Today’s topic and next week’s topic are two of the most important ways you can help authors like Z and myself. That said, let’s dive in.

Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) are finished copies authors send out. These copies are basically free books for readers to read and review. The important part is the review part. Without honest reviews from readers, authors aren’t discovered.

How to review an ARC? First read the book, decide what you like, what you didn’t like, and anything else you view as credible. For example you could say you enjoyed the story, but didn’t feel like the characters were fully developed. Second, write a review on several sites like Amazon, Kobo, B&N, or Goodreads. Be sure to mention you received an ARC in exchange for an honest review! Third, tell the author you’ve posted the review, your review could help them with marketing and advertising. Fourth, tell your friends and family about the book you read.

By engaging with the author, reading an ARC, and posting a review, you can help independent authors reach new heights. Next’s week topic will be the last in this series called Street Teams or Launch Groups. If you would like to help us please join the Demons and Deities group on the Mae Jordan author page on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1278122738979852/?source_id=122221485059372 or sign up for our newsletter here: ravenwolfjordon@gmail.com or private message either of us on Facebook, we’ll be happy to have you look at our work. Don’t forget to check this week’s book review “The Forgotten Ones” on Thursday! See you then.
